9/12/2023 0 Comments Best leatherman multi tool![]() The teeth run along the edge of the file, so we didn’t expect much, but it cut through mild steel hardware surprisingly well. This is the first multi we’ve tested that has a metal saw. While the needle-nose pliers with wire cutters, scissors, standard screw drivers (in three sizes), and the can opener were good, it was the other tools that really impressed us. We’re not faulting Victorinox for this, though, because the tool is still great without counting those. For the record, the company claims 24, but one is a coupling for a corkscrew that doesn’t come included with this model, and the other is a point to connect a lanyard. You need to open the SwissTool only to use the pliers, which eliminates wasted time fiddling with opening and closing it repeatedly if Victorinox had placed the 22 tools/functions on the inside. All the tools-save one-deploy from the outside of the frame. The tools are packed into the frame very closely, like scientific instrumentation. Below, you’ll find the best multitools available, some surprising values, and maybe a cautionary tale.įresh out of the box, the SwissTool Spirit X impressed us with its fit and finish. No tool was left untouched.Īfter all that was said and done, we averaged the recorded scores, noted our impressions, and made our final judgements. Finally, we filed wood, metal, and even our own fingernails. We disassembled and reassembled an old British carburetor, an electrical junction box, and a standard three-prong outlet. We opened bottles, cans, and shipping packaging. We carved white pine boards and maple branches. With the pliers, we gripped, squeezed, twisted, and turned various bits of hardware. In our test, we cut rope, twine, lamp wire, 14-gauge indoor branch circuit wire, maple saplings and branches, paper, and plastic-we also stripped the wire we cut and crimped electrical connectors. In our scoring, we counted these as one, since the functions are often performed by one regular, full-size tool. Note that, in their descriptions, manufacturers often count different capabilities of a specific tool individually to arrive at a higher number of “tools.” For example, pliers may be counted three or four times if they can function as needle-nose pliers, regular pliers, wire cutters, and/or wire strippers. How well they did earned them a score on a scale of one to five, and then we calculated the average of all scores to determine how that model stacks up against a mythical ideal multitool. How We Testedĭuring testing, we performed tasks to utilize every tool or every function of each tool on each model. When buying, prioritize which tools are most important to you and select a model where those are well designed and function appropriately. This might mean there’s room for only one screwdriver, or that it isn’t positioned for optimal use. When brands try to pack greater functionality into a limited amount of space, compromises must be made. However, not all multitools are created equal, and even among the best, some of the individual tools may not work as well as you’d hope. Multitools are designed to fill in when carrying a full tool box isn’t practical-and they can definitely get you out of a jam. 9/12/2023 0 Comments New tomb raider game reviewLara’s hair looks and moves fluidly and the story is very rich in details. Flowing water especially caught my eye in terms of boosting the game’s aesthetic prowess. Great! Lara and her playgrounds look incredible too. Naturally, this opened up different ways to stalk and kill enemies. I’ve climbed more trees in Rise of the Tomb Raider than in any other Tomb Raider game. The environments seem to be more open to choosing which way you want to go. What’s good about Rise of the Tomb Raider? I'm genuinely struggling to separate the two games but had we never saw Tomb Raider in 2013, I believe Rise of the Tomb Raider would have been revolutionary. I wanted more of this and less gunslinging. All that stood between you and progressing was a puzzle in a tomb that had been swallowed by the jungle. Cast your minds back to the slower, quietness of how Tomb Raider used to be. What happened to raiding tombs? Rise of the Tomb Raider (as with the previous Tomb Raider title) plays more like a game about Guerrilla Warfare. Additionally, I am sick to death of ‘ clear an area of five to ten enemies then progress *repeat*’. You may be happy with this but I yearned for more. I expected a lot more from Crystal Dynamics but it appears that the team took what worked well from 2013 and enhanced it slightly in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Again, it felt and looked immensely similar to the previous Tomb Raider experience. Here's another example: As Lara sits down at a camp in Rise of the Tomb Raider the menu systems are displayed beautifully and are easy to navigate through (slight improvement on menu navigation from the last game). I’m really struggling to see a difference. Naturally, parkour, crafting, upgrading weapons, veering off in to side quests and whizzing down zip lines with a climbing axe are all a part of Rise of the Tomb Raider just as it was in the 2013 game. The world in Rise of the Tomb Raider varies between the harsh blizzards of Siberia to the warmer climates of Syrian cliff sides with some tombs in between. The new Tomb Raider adventure feels too similar to the 2 013 release of Tomb Raider. I’m over seven hours in to Rise of the Tomb Raider and I’m left feeling very underwhelmed so Playstation 4 owners, listen up. ![]() Now I’m thinking that the wait may be a good thing to the hardcore Sony Elite’s and I’m going to tell you why. I’m old school when it comes around to Tomb Raider and Lara started her life on the Sony Playstation (actually a Sega Saturn one week earlier) and I felt it was an unfair move to players that don’t own an Xbox One to have to wait. ![]() The Rise of the Tomb Raider is a timed exclusive to the Xbox One. 9/12/2023 0 Comments Vtne exam practice questions![]() VTNE scores are reported on a scale from 200 to 800 with a passing score of 425. Returning characters from the original FMA, such as Mustang and Scar, are much more awesome and developed due to the fact that Brotherhood is 100% faithful to the manga. ![]() I think the new antagonist is an improvement on the original FMA, as this person has a much stronger and clever link to the Elric brothers' father. For me, the Xingese characters in particular (Ling Yao and Mei Chang among others) provide a new dimension to the FMA world, by showing us a different culture to the militaristic one we're familiar with. New characters include a group of people from Xing (a neighbouring country), another person from the Armstrong family (who I think has become one of the coolest members of the supporting cast), and a new main antagonist. The majority of the spotlight is still on the two brothers, but it highlights their interactions with new characters which were not present in the original anime. Moving on to the characters (best thing about this series), the original FMA focussed mainly on Ed and Al and on their struggles to regain their bodies, whereas Brotherhood also explores other characters to great detail at the same time. This becomes less of a problem as the series progresses, with plenty of new music being introduced to support the story as it reaches the finale. The background music which play during the episodes usually fit very well with the situation, although some tracks seem to be overused a little at first. The majority of the openings/endings are a pleasure to watch due to fantastic animated sequences and theme songs. The voice acting is of an excellent and consistent quality, and I think that pretty much all the characters have voice actors which suit their personalities. The various battles are consistently exciting to watch, but somehow get even better towards the end of the series. The action scenes are brilliant and VERY well animated, with a variety of alchemy techniques and other talents being displayed nearly every episode. The facial emotions of the characters are also perfectly presented. Compared to the original FMA it's a bit simpler but that's just because the original set a very high standard to follow. The animation in FMA Brotherhood is crisp and very well done (although it does sometimes dip a bit in quality). By the final episode, all loose ends are neatly tied up and what's left is a hugely satisfying epilogue. The plot is full of clever ideas and unpredictable twists that link various parts of the story together. However, after trying to look at it from the perspective of someone who's new to FMA (not comparing it to the manga nor the original), I believe that the pacing works and it manages to tell an intriguing story effectively with little confusion. Events that took up half a volume of the manga and had spread though a few episodes of the original anime were now shown in just a single episode. I admit that as I've seen the original and read the manga, the pacing of Brotherhood seems to start off being VERY fast (I finally got used to the pacing after That myth should be dispelled, as there's only one word to describe this series - EPIC. Brotherhood is meant to be a remake of the original, this time sticking to the manga all the way through, but there were people who thought it would spoil the franchise.
